Hindles BCSG Carp Syndicate

Carp Stock

The BCSG is in a very fortunate position, we have two prestigious waters, Dallows in Birmingham and Hindles near Iver (about 2 miles from Farlows).

The Colne Valley is home to many of Carp angling’s mythical lakes, Thorny country park, has proved to be yet another, to add to that long list.

We took on the unused, unstocked, 25 acre park lake thirteen years ago. Rumbling’s locally said that the lake held a few big fish. But everything about them was hush-hush. The group went ahead and stocked shy of 200 mirrors and commons from AJS fisheries.

The fish are a scaley Horseshoe / Sutton cross. At present they have grown to upper 30’s. The lake record for a mirror is 38lb 4oz. The fish went in C2 - C5 a 17lb Common being the largest.

We have added 20 Harrow / Sutton crosses, along with some of the “old Grey mirrors”. We wait to see what these fish can do in the future and what their offspring are like.

What of the originals, well we have seen them, the smallest of the group of 10 was the zip linear that was caught at 37lb.

We have a 35 man syndicate, on site toilet, tool and storage unit, purpose made road and two car parks.

The lake is as natural as possible, with 18 purpose made swims. nearly all reed fringed, with deep water directly from the marginal shelf.

For a water, with such a potential for the future, it is an under fished asset to the group. But for those that do fish it, it becomes a tranquil paradise that gets under your skin.
